Perry L. VanWinkle, 71, of Topeka, passed away due to ill health on Friday, May 8, 2020.

He was born May 12, 1948 to Marvin and Frances VanWinkle.

Perry is survived by his father and stepmother, Marvin and Maxine VanWinkle; two sisters, Wanda Leppla (Jim) of Topeka and Rose Ballman (Don) of Marysville; one brother, Bob VanWinkle (Karen) of Corning; uncle, Wilbur VanWinkle (Nona) of Grand Junction, Colorado; aunt, Kathy Bledsoe of Washington; five nieces and nephews, one great-nephew; two great-nieces; and numerous cousins.

Perry was preceded in death by his mother, Frances VanWinkle; brother, Gary VanWinkle; nephew, Michael VanWinkle; aunt, Eileen Bledsoe; and uncle, Milton Bledsoe.

Perry also leaves to mourn many former school classmates and friends, as well as numerous friends from working through the years in Topeka. His employment included Shawnee County Refuse Department, Pizza Hut, and Capital City cab company.

He enjoyed many years of league bowling tournaments and more recently, enjoyed just hanging out with and watching his friends at bowling alleys. Perry also enjoyed raising rabbits and the friendships that formed through taking them to swap meets. He enjoyed simply being active and running into and/or hearing from his old friends until his health prevented it.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
