Jack Leon Miller

Jack Leon Miller, 93, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 at his home. He was born March 19, 1926 in Goff, KS, the son of Charles and Ocie (Coffelt) Miller. His mother later remarried, Guy Wheeler.

Jack graduated from Holton High School in 1943. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and Member of the American Legion Post 400. In 2016, he went on the Kansas Honor Flight #36 to Washington DC. Jack was a sales supervisor for Sunbeam Bread, which became Butter Krust bread. In 1967 he acquired the Standard service station at 3000 N. Topeka Blvd. and Miller’s Northland (Standard) Amoco became his passion. Jack built his reputation on his motto that the customer was always right and with his personality and business skills the “station” flourished. Jack employed many area students and family members. Jack loved visiting with friends and meeting new people. Jack especially enjoyed traveling with Sandy Sullivan, his soul mate of 35 years. Together they traveled all 50 states and loved spending time in Branson, MO.  Jack belonged to the TOPEKS and Working Sam's Camping Clubs and morning coffee groups. Jack also served as an advisor to Kaw Valley Technical automotive students.

Other survivors include Jack's 4 children, Jackie Miller (Diana), Pam Wood (Robert), David Miller (Tamara) and Sherri Miller-Clark (Kevin), their mother Roberta Miller, 17 Grandchildren and 34 Great Grandchildren. Debbie Azeltine (James) and Lori Sullivan (Sandy's daughters that Jack treated as his own). Sister in Laws: Adalee (Wilbur) Miller and Bonnie (Dick) Wheeler. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles Eugene Miller, Wilbur Dale Miller, and half-brother Gary "Dick" Richard Wheeler.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 11 am at Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka, Blvd., Topeka, KS 66617.  Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Northland Christian Church or Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606
