Charles Frederick "Charlie" Vaughn
Charles Frederick "Charlie" Vaughn, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.
He was born January 27, 1935 in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Charles R. and Ruth (Hulse) Vaughan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth R. Vaughan; half-brother Robert Bruce.
Charlie served in the Marine Corps from 1953-1956. He worked briefly at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka and later became a volunteer there earning 4,360 hours by 1988. Charlie enjoyed duplicate bridge and achieved the rank of Silver Life Master in 2015. He was a mentor for other bridge players.
Charlie married Nancy (Patton) Bintner at Klasse Chapel, First United Methodist Church in Topeka on March 4, 1972. They later joined First Lutheran Church. She survives. Other survivors include brother-in-law, Marshall Patton, Boonville, Mo.; sisters-in-law Alma Bruce, McPherson; Linda (Parman) Green, Carrollton, Mo.; Vicki (Jim) McDonald, St. Joseph, Mo.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charlie requested cremation and no memorial service. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In appreciation of Midland Hospice House the family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice House 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Ks. 66606 or to Special Olympics Kansas 5280 Foxridge Drive, Mission, Ks. 66202.
