Daniel Wade Vertner

Daniel Wade Vertner died November 2, 2020 at a Topeka hospital. Dan was born December 17, 1964 in Salina Kansas, son of Ralph and Norma Vertner. He is survived by his sister Susan Ashburn of Lawrence, Pam Purdum of Emporia, nephew Nick Ashburn of Philadelphia, great nephew Benjamin Ashburn-Kellerman of Philadelphia and his beloved dog Baby.

Dan graduated Emporia High School. Dan knew no stranger. He loved talking to people and was loved by all who knew him. Dan had many hurdles in life from a life altering accident when he was a child. Dan was always positive and never complained. He was an avid sports fanatic. He loved his Jayhawks, Royals and Chiefs.

Dan is preceded in death by both parents and a nephew Brian Ashburn.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Instead of flowers if you feel inclined make a memorial contribution to Furever Friends of Madison Kansas, PO Box 321 Madison KS 66860. Dan’s beloved dog Baby was rescued from there and in reality she rescued us.

Although Dan left this earth, he is in our hearts forever and we have so many cherished memories to hold onto. His death is a reminder that tomorrow is not promised. Be kind and compassionate to EVERYONE and never pass a moment to tell someone you love and appreciate them.
