City Missouri’s Northeast High School and worked in her parent’s variety store. Elizabeth was an
avid crocheter and loved making craft gifts for everyone she knew. She was a generous, giving
spirit who quickly and selflessly helped anyone.

throughout her life. Mr. Brown and Elizabeth were high school sweethearts and reconnected late in
life to enjoy each other’s company, playing cards and having lively conversations.
Elizabeth married Thomas Joseph Keegan in 1940 and moved with him to San Diego for his job
with Consolidated Aircraft, and there they welcomed their first child. They returned to Kansas City
a year later and Elizabeth managed her now two kids and the house while Tom served in the
Philippines during WWII. After his return they managed a variety store in Kansas City for several
years before moving to Topeka where they owned and operated several businesses and raised the
rest of their growing family. After thirty-five years they divorced, at which time Elizabeth went to
work at Jostens Yearbook Co. and Kmart. She retired from Jostens in 1990 with a celebration
among the many friends she made during her working career.
