Jesse R. Root
Jesse R. Root was born June 30, 1944 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Jesse and Mildred Root. He departed this life on January 6, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.
Jesse grew up in Topeka and worked at Tilton’s Market in Oakland for many years. He also enjoyed construction and the concrete business and was self employed in the industry. He loved antiques and spending time attending auctions. Jesse never missed the opportunity for a good argument. He liked to fish and could tell you a great fish story.
Jesse is survived by his children, Keri (Steve) Herrick of Topeka and Michael (April) Root of Hutchison, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brothers, Merral and Leslie (Susan) Root of Topeka and sister, Yvonne (Charles) Raber.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marcia.
A memorial service will be held at The Topeka Cemetery at 1601 SE 10th Ave #1, Topeka, KS 66607 on April 9, 2025 at 12:00pm. Come in off of 10th and California.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of choice.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Jesse is finally at rest.
Jesse was one of the orneriest patients I think I have helped in a clinic. I won him over by having candy ready to give him at each visit. He loved giving me a hard time, and I gave it right back to him, lol. I know he will be missed, and I enjoyed knowing him and helping him. Prayers for his family, God bless.
