October 29, 1948 - April 23, 2021
Johnny Lee Culberth of Topeka, Kansas died Friday, April 23, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home; following a short battle with cancer.
He was born October 29, 1948, in Clovis, New Mexico, son to F.D. Culberth and Lucille (Rinehart) Culberth. He married Teri (Pemberton) Culberth on May 19, 1967, in Clovis, New Mexico. Teri preceded him in death on February 22, 1997. John retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in October of 2008.
John spent many an hour on the ball field with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid history fan and spent endless hours studying seismology.
Survivors include a son, Frank Drew Culberth III (Marta); two daughters, Gayle Culberth and Renee Thompson (Paul); and his sister, Priscilla Lomas (Wayne). John was a proud “Pa” to six grandsons, David (Heidi), Silas (Bianca), Drew IV, Gabe, Eli, and Jacob; one granddaughter, Lexi; and three great-grandchildren, Ruth, Clyde, and Haven.
Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery, next to his beloved Teri’s resting place and a family memorial will be set at a future date.
