August 14, 1952 - May 13, 2021
After a short battle with pancreatic cancer, LeRoy Glenn Gallaway, 68, of Topeka passed away at his daughter’s home on May 13, 2021. His final months were filled watching reruns of his favorite TV show, Bones; going on countless car rides; and receiving endless amounts of love and affection from his beloved children and grandchildren.
Affectionately known as Grandpa Fuzzy Face, LeRoy was born in Topeka on August 14th, 1952, to Franklin Sr. and Ruth (Horner) Gallaway. They preceded him in death. LeRoy married the love of his life, Glenda Clemons, on September 17, 1973 at the Gage Park Rose Garden in Topeka. Glenda preceded him in death on March 18, 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Gallaway, of Topeka, and her sons, Jonah and Finley; a son, Kevin Glenn and his wife, Natasha, and their six children: Lauren, Christian, Sarah, Jonathan, Julianna, and Nathaniel; siblings Bonnie Hoffman, of McPherson, Kansas; Mary (Claude) Gillum, Ethel Wilson, and George Gallaway, all of Topeka; father-in-law, Dale (Betty) Clemons; mother-in-law, Marie Clemons; sisters-in-law, Connie Clemons, Wichita; Stacey (Richard) Ard, Topeka; step- sisters-in-law Rachel (Dan) Bartels and Alicia Rothe both of Topeka; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cora Brown, and a brother, Franklin “Jay” Gallaway Jr.
LeRoy spent his entire career working in the auto glass industry for both Safelite AutoGlass and Jayhawk Auto Glass in Topeka. His hobbies included building model planes, stained glass, and baking. His caramel brownies were famous amongst his family and friends. His warm affection, humor, and selflessness will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Annie’s Place restaurant (4014 SW Gage Center Drive; Topeka) from 1:30 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. where his children invite you to join them for some light refreshments and to share your favorite memory of their beloved father.
Cremation is planned with private inurnment to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Midland Hospice Care; 200 SW Frazier Circle; Topeka, KS; 66606, in memory of LeRoy and Glenda Gallaway, both having valiantly battled cancer with the kindness and compassion of the staff at Midland.
