Lisa Boatman Cook

Lisa Boatman Cook, 64, of Effingham, Kansas, passed away on August 15, 2026, following a battle with lung cancer.

Lisa was born on August 13, 1962, at Fort Hood, Texas, to Billy and Valdareia “Val” Boatman. She grew up alongside her sisters, Heidi, Inger, and Lorelei.

On November 30, 1985, Lisa married Ray Cook. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and caring for others. Lisa was the proud mother of two sons, Ray Jr. and Ben.

Ray Jr. and wife Amber have three children, Landen, Carter, and Graham. Ben and his wife Brenna have two children, Oliver and Caston. Lisa loved her grandchildren dearly and valued her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Caring for others was not only Lisa’s work, but an important part of who she was. She dedicated much of her career to caring for the elderly, including serving as the Meals on Wheels Coordinator in Valley Falls and providing in-home care to older adults. She had a special place in her heart for those she cared for and found purpose in helping others feel valued, cared for, and less alone.

Lisa will be remembered for her kind and loving nature and for the compassion she extended to both her family and the people she served throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Lorelei.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Ray Cook; her sons, Ray Jr. (Amber) and Ben (Brenna); her grandchildren, Landen, Carter, Graham, Oliver, and Caston; her parents, Bill and Val Boatman; her sisters, Heidi and Inger; as well as extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched through her years of caring for others.

In accordance with Lisa’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Cremation arrangements are being provided by Angels Above Cremation.

Lisa’s legacy can be found in the kindness she showed, the people she cared for, and most of all, in the family she loved. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
