Marietta Hazel Brown

APRIL 07, 1957 - NOVEMBER 16, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marietta Hazel
Brown, age 67, of Wakefield, KS, on Nov. 16, 2024, at the Wakefield Care
and Rehabilitation Nursing Home, where she had resided for several years,
after a prolonged illness.

Marietta was born in Concordia KS at St Joseph Hospital, the first of two
daughters born to Charles Edward and Marian I Crawford Wright Brown on
April 7, 1957. She grew up in a loving home and attended Glasco public
schools. She enjoyed participating in band and musical groups. After high
school graduation she worked in food service at the C & L Drive-In
restaurant in Glasco for a time before entering a position in radio
broadcasting in Dodge City KS, which she enjoyed for several years.
She enjoyed and had a real passion for the craft of crochet which she learned
from her mother. She made many beautiful throw blankets and garments,
both as gifts and for custom orders.

Marietta is preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, aunts, and
uncles.

She is survived by her two sisters, Mellany Wright Maxwell (Randy)
Topeka Ks, and Charlotte A Cooper (Lyndell) of Linn, MO; nephews Jason
Roenne (Heather) Meriden KS; Charles Benson (Autumn) of Newton KS;
Kevin Benson (Jakelyn) of Park City KS; Terry N Porter of Wichita KS and
niece Brenda Ring (Larry) of Jeffersonville IN; eight grandnieces and
grandnephews along with many cousins and friends.

She requested the Rite of Cremation and for her ashes to be buried in the
family plot in the Glasco Cemetery. Inurnment and private family service
will take place at a future date.

The family of Marietta wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at
Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Nursing Home for the care they have
given to her over the years of her residence there.
