Paul Steven Collier, 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
Paul was born in Wamego, Kansas to Paul Omar and Mabel Faye (Seastrom) Collier on January 22, 1948. Paul attended Pleasant Hill Grade School, and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Paul attended Seaman High School graduating in 1966 and then was drafted to the United States Army to fight in the Vietnam War. Paul was in Vietnam and was overseas from 1968-1969. Paul returned home with a Purple Heart Medal.
Once home from Vietnam, Paul worked many odd jobs, traveling from place to place. Construction, Pool Service, Owner of the Hoyt Tavern, however retiring from Shawnee County Public Works after 25 years of service. Paul loved working on old trucks especially his 1962 Chevy Step side. He was always tinkering in the yard and working on something.
Paul married Jackie King on June 22, 1981 in Miami, Oklahoma at Lavern’s Wedding Chapel.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jackie, daughter, Sarah Mitchell and two grandchildren; Owen and Maggie Mitchell (all of Topeka). Sister, Linda Bone (Mayetta), and Brothers, Mike (Hoyt), David Collier (Burlingame), Father-in-law, Lou King and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by both of his parents, brother-in-law Ron Bone, sister-in-law Rena Collier, and Mother-in-law, Mary Ann King.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the American Legion, 3029 US-24, Topeka, KS 66618 where family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or Topeka VA Medical Center Voluntary Service attention Denise L Cunningham 2200 SW. Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66622. Burial will take place at a later time at Prairie Home Cemetery.
