Verlon loved kids. All kids. And kids loved him. He loved playing with the grandkids, pulling them behind the lawnmower in a wagon. Every kid in town knew where they could go to get their bicycles fixed if they broke or had a flat tire. He always kept spare tire tubes of different sizes on hand to accommodate. The yard was always full of kids even after his own kids were gone.

His wings were ready but we were not. He will be forever in our hearts.

Read Prayers and Memory's for “Verlon Ralph Cress”

  • Verlon was a special friend. Many memories of our times. Especially the map he gave us for our honeymoon.   It was many years old. Boy did we get lost. He only had his wonderful grin. He helped Harry work on his cars. Our prayers are with you and your family ??

  • I met Verlon when I was 10 years old. He always had a smile and embraced me as if I was one of his own. He truly was an amazing soul and had the kindest heart. I will miss him dearly.

  • He was the best dad I ever had, there’s so many memories that we had even when mom wasn’t home, he left an impact on his friends and family even the ones that were just acquaintances, everyone loved him and he loved everyone, he always did sudoku and always tried to teach the younger kids how to do it, if mom was going somewhere taking pictures he’d be in the car doing his sudoku or holding the props, he supported her through everything and she supported him. When I think of what love means I see them, there was never a day where they fought, if something was wrong they’d talk it out. I love and miss him so much

  • Sorry for you all's loss Judy and family big pray's cont. to go up as you all go through this rough time. I got the honor of meeting and knowing Verlon through his first adopted daughter Autumn and having talks with him over the time while Autumn was still living at home. Loved his funniness he had about him his joking mannerism  he had about him loved to hear him tell me a joke  he had great love for and toward his wife, children and grandchildren. I can remember the day I pulled up to there house and he had Fil out in the wagon giving her a ride and hollered out to me you here to see this goofy little grand daughter of mine. And I said well maybe he said you have to wait until we get our going to town ride done and our popcorn  eaten . I just laughed said ok pop's. He will for sure be very missed by everyone that knew him or that he touched a spot or place in their life's but never forgotten. Rip Verlon (Pop's Cress) sour high up in that sky until we see each other again one day.

  • We moved to Delia more than a decade ago and lived next door to Judy and Verlon. They were the dearest neighbors you could ask for! They had a beautiful love for each other and for their family and friends! I remember when they would come and sit at our picnic table and just pass the time of day. Verlon would walk past every day with a smile and a joke, on his route to pick up cans and get some exercise. When we moved, what we missed was our neighbors!  Verlon was such a good man and the world was a better place because of him! RIP, dear friend!?

  • Verlon became my brother in law when I was 10 yrs old. He became such an important part of my life. Not only was he married to my sister but he treated all of us like we were his own blood. He gave big brother advice and at times fatherly advice.   He teased me like a big brother would but he also looked out for me. He trusted me to babysit his most precious possessions my nieces.  He taught my daughters soduku. He loved all his nieces and nephews and they loved him.  He was always willing to lend a hand always made me laugh always made me feel safe. I will miss him so much. Life will never be the same without him
