Wanda Lee Watkins

October 19, 1934 — July 10, 2026

Wanda Lee Watkins, 91, passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2026. A beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, her life was defined by her devotion to her family and her vibrant spirit.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 19, 1934, Wanda later built a fulfilling life across Topeka, Kansas, Tontitown, Arkansas, and Wichita, Kansas.

She dedicated many years of service to her community, ultimately retiring from the USD 259 Food Service Center.

Wanda shared a beautiful and lasting marriage of 75 years with her beloved husband, Perry O’Dean Watkins, before his passing in 2012.

Wanda was a proud matriarch who raised 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and was looking forward to welcoming 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She loved to cook, sew, host or attend family get-togethers, eat out at new restaurants, travel, go thrift shopping or as she said “junking”, and visit estate and garage sales.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Watkins of Wichita, KS; her loving granddaughter and caregiver, Taira (Watkins) Looka and husband Joshua Looka of Topeka, KS; grandsons: Johnny Watkins of Wichita, KS; Justin Watkins of Tontitown, AR; and Austin Watkins of Tontitown, AR; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren (on the way); and 1 half-sister in Oklahoma.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian Bruce Chalk and Goldie (Nickell) Burge; her husband, Perry O’Dean Watkins; her three sons, Arthur (O’Dean) Watkins, Ronnie Bruce Watkins, and Terry Lee Watkins; and her sister, Juanita (Chalk) Gordon.

No service will be provided but a memorial will be held at a later date.
