Carolyn Ann Davenport age 89 from Topeka, Ks peacefully passed in her sleep on December 3rd, 2024 at
Hillsdale Place in Topeka, Ks. She was born on January 9, 1935 to Kenneth Carson and Sara Carson(Sara
Etta Wiggins) in Chanute, Ks. She attended Washburn University where she met the love of her life
Robert(Bob) D Davenport. She worked during the Kansas Legislature for 10 years as a librarian, at Trinity
Life, as a Secretary at Rice Elementary and with her husband Bob who built houses for over 40 years.
Carolyn took care of the books, helped select plans, worked with clients on designs, and selected the
paint, carpet, tile, etc for the homes. Together they built many homes mostly in the Lake Sherwood area
until they both retired. She was 73. She enjoyed golfing, sailing, traveling, Playing Bridge, Crossword
puzzles, Jigsaw puzzles and socializing with friends. Carolyn and Bob were involved in many of the social
activities at Lake Sherwood. Carolyn married Bob in July 1955. They were married for a wonderful 67
years until he passed in 2022. Carolyn was a great mother and grandmother who loved her children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by daughters Kathy Zeckser, Theresa
Swearingen(Brad), her son Mark Davenport, 5 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren, and sister Patty
Baker. She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert and her parents.
Per Carolyn’s wishes, her body is to be cremated. Angles Above is taking care of the cremation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW
21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.

We hired Bob and Carolyn to build our North Topeka home in 2001. I worked directly with Carolyn paying all the invoices; she was always very proficient, kind, and had lots of great home building suggestions (including how to chalk the exterior ahead of painting...:)...). Most people talk about how stressful building a home can be, with Bob and Carolyn it was a very pleasant experience.
