Warren went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Midland Care Hospice House.
 
He was born October 21, 1932 in Chanute, (Neosha County), KS to Floyd M. and Fern N. (Powell) Samuel.
 
He grew up in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School "The Elms" in the Class of 1950. The following year, he attended "The Panther" Chanute Junior College until he joined the. U. S. Navy, where he served in the Naval Aerial Photography Program. He served from 1952 to 1972.
 
Warren served on the U.S. Navy ice breaker "Edisto". It's mission was to open sea lanes. One of the main responsibilities of the crew on board was to go down to Anvers Island to build Palmer Station. He was honored to serve his country those 20 years.
 
After his retirement from the military,  he chose to make Topeka his home. In time, he met and married  his beloved wife of 46 years; Wren Patterson Samuel. Their home was blessed with his two sons, Derrick and Mike.
 
Warren was very active in the service to his Lord and Savior in the Choir, teaching Bible classes, participating in the extended ministries and serving as Building Superintendent for 17 years at the First Southern Baptist Church. One of the highlights of ministry was participating in the church organized Mission Trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. 
 
He is survived by his wife, Wren, of the home; one son, Derrick Samuel of Lawrence; his sister, Zee Ballenger, of Jacksonville Beach, Fl; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mike; an infant sister, Helen Lucille; sister, Frances Wolf; and brothers, Bill and Bob.
 
It was Warren's request not to have a formal service.
