David Lee Miller, 79, of Topeka, passed away February 7, 2021 from cancer surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on November 4 th , 1941 to Marjorie (Adams) and Larry Miller in Murfreesboro, TN. After graduating from Highland Park High School in 1959, he went on to earn his BA in Business from Baker University in 1963. He continued his education earning his law degree in 1969 from St. Mary’s University Law School in San Antonio, TX. David also served as a Captain in the Air Force from August 1963 to June 1969. He practiced law in Topeka, receiving his 50 year pin and certificate. He retired in 2019.
He married TondraAnn Smith on June 5 th , 1974. Between the two of them they have four children--Scott, Christopher, Kelley and Jonathan. David was active in the Topeka community serving as a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and a member of First United Methodist Church.
David never knew a stranger. He loved meeting and talking to people. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying his family around in his 69’ Comanche. He loved spending time with his family, many friends and neighbors. David was a devoted husband, father and a wonderful “Pa” to his nine grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Larry, a stepmother Betty Miller and his brother Larry. He is survived by his wife, TondraAnn, four children and nine grandchildren; Scott, Tammy, Lindsey & Maggie Miller (Houston, TX), Christopher, Dayna, Taylor & Tyler Miller (Basehor,KS), Craig, Kelley, Brett, & Kendall Bartek (Houston, TX) and Jonathan, Ann, Nathan, Natalie & Lauren Miller (Topeka, KS).
A Celebration of Life is planned for Monday, February 15 th at First United Methodist Church 600 SW Topeka Blvd. at 10:00 am in Topeka (masks and social distancing are required). The service will also be livestreamed at https://www.forthegoodofthecity.org/livestream.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial tributes in David’s name be directed to The Topeka Bar Association, 700 SW Jackson #209, Topeka, KS 66603.
