In Loving Memory of Johnnie Cheryl Fitzgibbons
July 18, 1952 – September 24, 2026
Johnnie Cheryl Fitzgibbons, lovingly known as Mama, was called home to the Lord on September 24, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by loved ones.
To know Mama was to know love. She had a special way of making the people around her feel cared for. Her love could be found in the little things—in her words, hugs, laughter, concern, and in simply being there when her family needed her. She was the kind of woman whose love left an imprint on your heart.
Mama was the daughter of the late John Curtis Owens Sr. and Helen Marie Owens (Blankenship). She was preceded in death by her siblings, Louis Broadhead and Shirley Seals.
She leaves behind her siblings, Vicky Craft, Donna Owens, and John Curtis Owens Jr., who will forever cherish the memories and love they shared with her.
Her children were among her greatest blessings. She leaves behind Ronald Meryl (Weezy)Brunkow, Tina Marie (Jay) Spencer, Bonnie Renee Rodriguez, and Theresa Michelle Fitzgibbons. To them, she was not simply their mother—she was a place of comfort, a source of strength, and someone whose love they could carry with them through every season of life.
Mama’s love grew even larger with each generation. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as Grandma Johnnie, and 12 great-grandchildren, who knew her as their beloved GiGi. The love she shared will become part of family stories for generations to come. The memories they made with her, the love she gave them, and the special place she held in their lives will never be forgotten.
She also leaves behind her beloved partner, James L. Craft, with whom she shared love, companionship, and many treasured memories.
Mama’s family was her heart. She loved deeply, cared fiercely, and gave selflessly of herself to the people she loved. She carried just as big of love for animals and nature, always said she couldn’t get enough of looking at God’s beautiful creation.
Her absence will leave a space that can never be filled, but the love she gave so freely will continue to live through every person she touched.
There will be moments when her family will wish they could hear her voice, feel her arms around them, or simply sit beside her one more time. But in those moments, they can hold close the beautiful memories she gave them, knowing that the love between them does not end with death.
Mama has gone home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but her love remains here—in her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her siblings, her partner, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
— 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
She fought her fight. She finished her course. And now she is home.
Rest peacefully, Mama.
Rest peacefully, Grandma.
Rest peacefully, GiGi.
You were loved more than words could ever express, and you will be missed every single day. Your family will carry your love in their hearts.
Until we meet again, Mama. We love you.
