Thomas Ramirez

Thomas "Tom" Ramirez unexpectedly passed away in St.Francis Hospital & Medical Center Critical Care Unit on October 22nd, 2019 in Topeka, KS at the age of 68. The cause of death was septic shock and multiple organ failure. Heroic attempts to save his life were unsuccessful after two days in ICU. He passed away with family and friends by his side.

Tom is survived by his twin daughters TomiFrancis-Ramirez, Joie Francis-Ramirez and their mother Brenda Francis; nephew Matt Francis whom he lived with; siblings, Ed, Rosalie, Rudy, Gloria, and Carol. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ernestine Ramirez, and brother Joseph "Joey" Ramirez who died tragically at age fifteen. He had many nieces and nephews he was proud of and talked about regularly.
Tom was born on July 17th, 1951 in Denver, CO. He graduated from Metro High School and earned a degree in Sales and Marketing from UC Santa Barbara, CA. He then spent many years in the food, beverage and hospitality industry. He was most proud of his management position with The Orient Express Railroad Casino. He met Brenda Francis on the west coast and they enjoyed many sporting events, fine dining, trips to coastal towns like Sonoma and the Bay Area, BBQing and watching sports on TV. After moving to Topeka KS the couple welcomed twin daughters, into the home whom they named after Thomas "Tommy" and brother Joseph "Joey" whom he was very close to. He loved to dress his baby girls in Nike and Adidas. His girls remember him as a caring father who was always there for them and encouraged them to be kind and thoughtful.
Tom was an accomplished golfer and his daughter, Joie, followed those footsteps earning a scholarship on her college golf team. His daughter Tomi followed his footsteps being in business leadership. She started her own photography business in high school and is developing her professional photography skills while pursuing a degree in public service. Thomas was witty and always well dressed for whatever occasion. He was passionate about watching his daughters succeed in whatever they were involved in.
A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 am on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Topeka, KS, with a reception to follow at Blind Tiger Restaurant and Brewery. Father Tim will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom's life.
