William Blair Suter, 64, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on May 31, 2026.
Born in Big Spring, Texas, William, known to everyone only as “Blair”, carried his Texas roots with him throughout his life. He was known for his warm personality, quick wit, and ability to make friends wherever he went. He loved interacting with people and had a gift for making others feel welcome.
Blair spent much of his career as an executive chef, where his creativity and passion for food earned him the admiration of colleagues and guests alike. An award-winning barbecue chef, he possessed a remarkable talent for creating recipes seemingly out of thin air. His creativity extended beyond the kitchen, as he was also skilled in the art of ice sculpting, transforming blocks of ice into beautiful works of art. He also enjoyed photography, often capturing the beauty in places and moments others might overlook, reflecting his unique ability to see the world in a different lens. Later in his career, he continued serving the public through his work at the DMV, which would provide the opportunity to help others everyday.
Family and friends knew Blair as someone who genuinely loved what he did. Whether preparing a meal, sharing stories, or helping others, he brought enthusiasm and dedication to everything he touched. His love of cooking was more than a profession—it was an expression of who he was.
Blair is survived by his mother, Kathryn Neumann; his two sons, Jordan Suter and Austin Suter; his two brothers, John Suter and Dave Suter; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Suter.
Blair’s legacy lives on through the countless meals he prepared, the friendships he built, and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His passion, creativity, and Texas spirit will not be forgotten.
“Good food brings people together.” Though Blair is gone, the warmth he shared around the table and throughout his life will remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
