Jennifer Anessia Simons, 50, of Osage City, KS went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 29, 2021.

Born on September 19, 1970 in Wellington, KS. 

She graduated from Belle Plaine High School then attended Friends University and Newman University. 

She attended New Spring Church in Wichita, KS. 

Jennifer was a faithful follower of Jesus, a passionate Trump supporter, loved to fish and camp, and enjoyed entertaining and cooking for others. She was spunky, full of personality, and lived life on her own terms. She loved to debate and stay up-to-date on politics. She enjoyed watching the Food Network and law or crime television. Jennifer didn’t know a stranger, loved to converse with everyone, and was a kind and loving friend (who would give anyone the shirt off her back), and a caretaker to all.

Charles A. McLain, Topeka (formerly of Rossville) passed away at home with his family by his side on April 28th, 2021 after a valiant battle with kidney cancer. 

Charlie was born July 5th, 1943 to Thomas & Josie Taylor McLain in Senath, MO.  He later moved with his family to the St. Louis area, where he met his wife of 28 years, Jo.  They later divorced but remained close friends.  She preceded him in death.

Charlie retired from Goodyear in 1997 after 33 years of service.  Charlie, or “Chuck” was an avid bowler and leaves behind many great friends in the bowling community.  He loved spending time at the casino and loved his Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawks.  He proudly passed on this love to his family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom, a sister Kathy, nephew Tony and his son, Charles (Chip) McLain.  He is survived by three sisters, Freida (Jimmy) Noonan, Brenda (Jerry) Sessums, and Doris Smith.  He is also survived by three daughters, LauRay McLain, Topeka, Joi (John) Ridder and Amber (Jeff) Huske, all of Silver Lake, nine grandchildren, Darrell (DJ) and Trint Crosswhite, Jakob and Jennah Ridder, Kali and Garrett Huske, and Ben, Sarah, and Hannah McLain, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charlie was cremated at his request and arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Johnny Lee Culberth of Topeka, Kansas died Friday, April 23, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home; following a short battle with cancer.

He was born October 29, 1948, in Clovis, New Mexico, son to F.D. Culberth and Lucille (Rinehart) Culberth. He married Teri (Pemberton) Culberth on May 19, 1967, in Clovis, New Mexico. Teri preceded him in death on February 22, 1997. John retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in October of 2008.

John spent many an hour on the ball field with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid history fan and spent endless hours studying seismology.

Survivors include a son, Frank Drew Culberth III (Marta); two daughters, Gayle Culberth and Renee Thompson (Paul); and his sister, Priscilla Lomas (Wayne). John was a proud “Pa” to six grandsons, David (Heidi), Silas (Bianca), Drew IV, Gabe, Eli, and Jacob; one granddaughter, Lexi; and three great-grandchildren, Ruth, Clyde, and Haven.

Karen Hernandez-Rodriguez, age 26, died on Friday, April 16, 2021 at her home in Hoyt,Kansas.  She was born on August 27, 1994 in Garden City, Kansas.

Karen was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, always thinking of others. Anyone that knew her witnessed the love she had for her Kai bug, he was her whole world. On her spare time, she loved and enjoyed her time fishing with her family Nate, Zane and Kai.

Survivors incude: Son - Kai Allen Martin of Hoyt, Kansas; Husband - Nathan “Nate” Martin of Hoyt, Kansas; Step son - Zane Martin of Hoyt, Kansas; Mother and Father - Luzmaria and Pedro Hernandez of Holcomb , Kansas; Two sisters - Johana (Jacob) Gonzalez of Garden City, Kansas, Stephanie (Shahin Sakopanah) Hernandez of Shawnee, Kansas; 4 Nieces and 3 Nephews; Maternal grandmother, Guadalupe Perez de Rodriguez; Paternal grandfather Manuel Hernandez;  Numerous Cousins and extended family members.

On Tuesday, April 13th, 2021, Donald Blomberg, beloved brother and uncle, passed away at the age of 75. Don was born on January 11th, 1946, in Manhattan, Kansas, to William and Alice (Helget) Blomberg.
 
Don graduated from Manhattan High in 1963, later attending Capital City Barber College in North Topeka. After graduating, he began work at Pete’s Barber shop at 108 SE. 8th street in downtown Topeka.  In 1984, he purchased the shop, changing the name to Don’s Barber shop. He retired in 2011 after 45 years in the same location. Over the years, Don and his barbershop were featured in several articles in the Topeka Capital Journal.
He also worked for many years as an assistant manager at the Dickinson and Fairlawn theaters.  Don became very knowledgeable about cinema and enjoyed movie trivia.

Corine Robinson passed away April 3rd 2021 at the tender age of 87 she passed away after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones who will honor her legacy by living their life to the fullest.
 
Born to Alex and Henriett Jackson on December 1st 1933. She was born and raised in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Corine graduated from Tonganoxie High School and moved to Topeka where she met and married Willie Robinson and had two children. She was a loving and devoted mother. She is survived by her daughter Velma Robinson (Charlotte NC) 2 grandsons Anthony Robinson of (Aurora Co) and Mario Esquibel (Aurora Co). She has 7 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her son Gerald Robinson.
 
She enjoyed walking and working in her yard and spending lot of time with her great-great grandson.  She will be surely missed. Please join us in celebrating her life April 17th at 1 p.m. at the Mount Auburn Cemetery.

Lois J. Bryant, 78, of Topeka passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Lois was born August 10, 1942 in Boonville, Missouri. Lois graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1962. She went on to earn her Associates Degree in Home Health from Washburn University.

Lois married Willard L. Bryant Sr. in the late 1960s and they found each other again and remarried in 1996.  Lois retired from a career in home health care. Lois had a strong Christian faith and was a longtime member of the Central Church of Christ.

Lois enjoyed reading, volunteering, playing bingo and meeting new friends through her Mary Kay business.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, her husband, Willard Bryant, Sr. and her daughter, Joyce D. Bryant.

She is survived by her children, Sheena Fields (Sam), Tina Drew, Cynthia Drew, Willard Bryant Jr., seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.  Other survivors include her brother, Robert Drew.

 

Services are scheduled for Saturday,  April 10th at Central Church of Christ.

Doris Spears passed away peacefully in her home on March 20, 2021.

With a fresh spring wind flowing through her window and bluegrass music playing, Doris departed on her next adventure joining her husband Billy Earl Spears, daughters Sally Dee Spears, Lawna Gay Spears Blevins, Lisa Lynn Spears Tenpenny, and grandson Christopher Allen Latham.
 
Doris was born Dora Moroz on August 20, 1936 in Andrew Alberta Canada. Her parents were Wasylena Presiznuik Moroz and Harry Moroz. Her father died just a few days before she was born. She embraced her Ukrainian heritage which made her strong. Her daughters were in awe when she would visit her family and start speaking her Ukrainan language. 
 
Doris met her husband of Billy of 59 years, in Great Falls, Montana while listening to him play his fiddle in a country band. They fell in love, married and raised four daughters in Lawrence, Kansas.
 
Doris was a vibrant force of nature, a momma bear, who loved her family, and look out if you messed with any of them! Her home was always open to her daughter's friends, family and the musicians in her husband's band. She was a second mom to many, and would feed anyone who was hungry sharing her traditional Ukrainian foods and other tasty dishes.
Doris kept in touch with her Canadian family despite the distance and was close to her sister Irene who lives in the states.

Lisa Lynn Spears passed away on March 15, 2021. Our hearts are broken.

Lisa was born in Lawrence, Kansas on May 23, 1960, the daughter of Billy Earl Spears and Doris Spears. Her father preceded her in death, and her mother passed away five days after Lisa's death.
 
Lisa was the proud mother of her two sons, Remington Houston Spears Tenpenny and Billy Michael Spears Gibler.
 
Lisa grew up in a home full of love and music. She also grew up with three older sisters whom she loved to tease and annoy with her goofiness. She had a great sense of humor. She pampered her cats and loved all baby animals.
 
Lisa was a gifted musician. Growing up hearing her father's fiddle, family visits to Oklahoma which were full of family music in her grandparents backyard and home, and many band practices and musical jams in her childhood home, Lisa fell in love with the sounds she heard.  She soaked it all up and learned to play the steel guitar at the age of 15, and soon began creating her own unique style.
Lisa sat in and played with her father's band every chance she got.

Kevin Richard Moriarty, passed away at University of Kansas St. Francis Campus on March 14, 2021 in Topeka, Kansas.

Kevin was born on September 13, 1956 in Topeka, Kansas to Parents Richard and Irma (Petesch) Moriarty both preceded him in Death. Kevin was married in May 1978 to Carol Ann (Stewart) Moriarty she preceded him in Death on January 2014.  

Survivors include his wife Teresa J (Flowers) Moriarty Married on April 2018. Brothers Patrick Moriarty and Dennis Moriarty.

Kevin and Carol had four children:

Melissa Ann (Steve) Efrano,  Littleton Co.

Melanie Dawn Moriarty, Overbrook Ks.

Emily Faye (Deon) Christophe, Grand Pairie Tx.

Eric Richard Moriarty, Topeka, Ks. 

And their children gave them Nine Beautiful Grandchildren that they loved with all their heart.

Tai, Mikaela, Pryce and Annistyn Christophe 

Along many nieces and nephews that loved him and he loved them back.
