August 24, 1936 - June 12, 2021

Rex Rayford Roush Jr. passed away at his home on June 12, 2021 in Topeka Ks.  Rex was the son of Rex Rayford Roush Sr, & Leita May Roush Willey.  He graduated from Topeka High in 1954.  After High School, he joined the Navy & participated in the Korean Conflict aboard the Aircraft Carrier US Randolph.  While on board ship, he played the piano for the Sunday Church Service.  Rex received his electronics training while in the Navy.  He later worked for the Philco Corporation after his discharge.  He worked at Burroughs Corp & Stanford University in San Francisco in Computer Programming.  When he returned to Topeka Ks, he served as instructor of ECPI, a computer training school at White Lakes.  He then spent 18 years as Group Manager at Blue Cross & retired in 2001.  He is survived by his sister Sue (Larry) Perry, a niece, Shelly (Matt) Welch, nephews, Pat (Liz Chavez)Cool, Gary(Angela) Cool, & Todd (Stacey) Perry.   Great nephews, Joey Welch, Aaron Cool, Corbin Cool, Carter Cool, & Great nieces, Katie Welch, Liz & Allison Perry, Kate & Jesse Chavez.  A  Celebration of Life will be held on July 30 at 10:00 am in the Garden Gazebo at Topeka Cemetery.  1st gate north off I-70 & California on west side.

May 8, 1926 - July 19, 2021

Dorothy Louise Lewis, 95, Topeka, passed away on July 19, 2021 in Hospice Care at Aldersgate Village. She was blessed with a great life with wonderful family and friends. She was a true caregiver that had a heart for helping others.

 Dorothy was born May 8, 1926, in Mildred, Kansas, the daughter of Guy and Mariana Lowry. She attended Mildred High School. Dorothy married Clyde Arden Lewis on February 8, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. After entering into marriage, they moved to Topeka. Dorothy lived in and around the Topeka, Pauline, and Auburn areas her entire adult life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, son Delvy Lewis, daughter-in law Karen, and sister Hazel Smith. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Vicki, and son, Mike (Darla). Eight grandchildren, Kristi (Dan) Woestendick, Kerri (Gary) Rodden, Mindi (Brett) Kuper, Heather Robb, Melissa Robb, Jenni (Kevin) McCoy, Kelsey (Scott) Rinehart, and Kyle Lewis. Seven great grandchildren, Cooper, Kallie, Keely, Jordan, Karly, Ellie, and Henry. A niece and a nephew, Marcia (Garry) Moore and Randy Smith.

Dorothy worked many years in food service in the Auburn Washburn USD 437 schools and later at the central office as the Food Service Director for the district. Years after retirement, she worked as the Site Manager for Meals on Wheels in Auburn, Kansas.

Family will have a graveside service at Lone Elm Cemetery at a later date.

December 12, 1944 - July 14, 2021

Thomas "Tom" Joe Keylon, Sr. of Alta Vista, KS, died Wednesday July 14, 2021 in Alma, KS. Tom was born on December 12, 1944 in Athens, TN to Avril Roy and Eva Beatrice Keylon. In 1964, Tom married Barbara Gentry, whom he later divorced. They had one infant son, Darren Glen, who was deceased at birth. In 1969, Tom married Jacqueline McCoy. They had three children, then later divorced. In January 2002, Tom married the love of his life, Dianne Scott. She also had three children, and together, Tom and Dianne loved all of the children as their own. After serving time in the United States Army and the Vietnam War, Tom worked for Kansas Power and Light (now Westar Energy) until retirement. 

Tom was preceded in death by one infant son, Darren Glen; one brother, JR Keylon; two sisters, Bettye Burke and Karen Keylon; his parents; and one great-nephew, Rick Burke.  Survivors include Tom’s wife, Dianne of the home; three sons: Thomas Joe Keylon, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Gardner, KS; John David Keylon and his wife Renee of Coffeyville, KS; Donald Charles Scott and his wife Sara of Daphne, AL; three daughters: Jennifer Roi Aguirre and her husband Pete of Alma, KS; Aliesha Ann Swallows and her husband Chris of Charleston, SC; Natasha Marie Scott of Alta Vista, KS; three brothers: Bill Frank Keylon and his wife Tolitha of Athens, TN; Bob Keylon and his wife Alberta of Athens, TN; David Keylon and his wife Joyce of Athens, TN; and Marilyn Keylon of Lenoir City, TN, the wife of his late brother JR Keylon.  Tom is also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Per Tom’s wishes, there will be no formal services on his behalf. The family will be gathering at the home of Dianne Keylon on Sunday, July 25, from 2pm until 5pm. Friends are welcome to stop by to give their condolences.

November 28, 1969 - June 24, 2021

Brad Bellinder died Thursday, June 24^th 2021 in Topeka, KS. 

Bradley Robert Bellinder was born in Onaga, KS to James D and Linda A Graf Bellinder, Friday, November 28, 1969.  He grew up in the north Topeka area.  He married Crystal Weekley in Las Vegas.  They were divorced.  He worked landscaping and restaurants. 

Survivors include his sons, Cole Weekley-Bellinder, Dylan Weekley-Bellinder, his daughters, Shyann Annon, and Michael “Madi” Moore, his “adopted daughter”, Kristin Moore., all of Topeka, his mother, Linda Finch, Onaga;  his stepmom, Karen Hudnall.  Brothers, Jeffrey (Bo)(Kristie) Bellinder, and Thomas (Tdogg)(Casey) Bellinder, half brother Jimmie Bellinder; all of Topeka; stepsister, Elizabeth (Beth)(Paul) Adkins and stepbrother, Sean Finch both of Kansas City; nephews Joshua (Bug) Bellinder; Christopher (Holly) Voss, P K Robertsen, Dalton Finch; nieces  Ashley Dodds, Sydney and Lillie Lynch. Great niece, Zelda and several aunts and uncles and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents:  George & Elizabeth Bellinder, Rose Marie & Jack Allen, Marie & George (Shorty) Graf, his Dad, Jim Bellinder, brothers, James Lee Bellinder and Christopher George Bellinder, his stepdad, George Finch. 

A Memorial will be held Fri evening, July 30 at McKinley Park in north Topeka from 5 - 8 

January 12, 1982 - July 06, 2021

John Michael Johnston passed away very unexpectedly at the age of 39 on July 6th 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital with his devoted wife Laurri and mom Michele by his side. He left us peacefully at 2:15pm. John Michael Johnston was born on January 12th 1982. He is survived by his wife Laurri his 6 kids Kyle,Paige,Jamee,Alexis,Bayley,and Aunnikka his mom Michele his dad Clint his 3 brothers Jason (wife Tracey) Tyler and Adam and his little rose bud Ashla (husband Doug)and many nephews and nieces. Also his 3 grandsons Chad, Ayden and Finley. John was the most sweetest person and most kind hearted person you could ever meet. He was the kind of person who would give you everything he had even if he didn't have it. He was also the life of the party and could always make you laugh no matter what the situation was.

May 30, 1940 - June 22, 2021

“Scotty” by his friends and family passed away peacefully at Midland Hospice house on June 22, 21.

He was born 5/30/40 to Scott and Vera (Morgan) Parrett (both preceded him in death).

He had one brother Carroll Richard Parrett, he passed away 2016.

He married Carol Phillips on 8/19/1960. She passed away in 2016.

They had 3 children:  Patricia Cox (Brian), David Scott Parrett, and Michael Parrett. Michael also passed away in 2016. The year 2016 was an extremely rough year.

They have 5 grandchildren:  Michael Scott Cox, Kyle Morgan Cox(Tierra), Bobbi Jo Calderwood, Brynn Parrett and Brooke Parrett.

March 14, 1968 - July 7, 2021

Seung Yeon So, 53, passed away July 7, 2021 at the Stormont Vail Hospital and Trauma Center in Topeka. There will be a memorial service in his honor on July 20, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Korean Church of Manhattan.

Seung Yeon was born March 14, 1968 in Busan, South Korea to Jin Il So and Jung Ja Lee. A man of deep faith from a young age, he received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Chongshin University and a Master of Divinity degree from Chongshin Theological Seminary. He worked as a chaplain for the Korean Army and as a pastor at Uijunbu Presbyterian Church, Olive International Church, and Korean Church of Manhattan. Upon his retirement from full-time ministry, he worked as a custodial specialist at Kansas State University.

Seung Yeon married Hyeonju Lee in 2015. He became a stepfather to Alexander, Kristopher, and Benjamin when they were 8, 5, and 3, respectively.

May 30, 1924 - July 6, 2021

Topeka: Virginia Lee (Duff) Dyck, 97, passed away on July 6, 2021 at her home in Aldersgate Village of Topeka. She was grateful for a good life and felt blessed with a wonderful family and much love. Virginia was born May 30, 1924, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Albert LaRue Duff and Eva G. (Wilcox) Duff. She graduated from Newton High School and attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.

Virginia was united in marriage with Theodore (Ted) Earl Dyck on July 7, 1945 in San Francisco, California, where Ted was stationed in the U.S. Navy. After Armistice was declared, the newlyweds returned to Kansas where together they raised four children: Robert (Mary Leigh) Dyck, Marilyn (Bernard) Bianchino, Kathryn (Steve) Hund, and Susan (Thomas) Wellborn. Virginia was an active homemaker serving home-cooked meals, volunteering as Girl Scout Leader, leading various church groups, and organizing family vacations each year to Minnesota. When asked, Virginia exclaimed, ‘my children were my hobby!’ and she always put the needs of family first.

Ted’s career took them to Chicago where they enjoyed new friends and life in the city. Virginia worked at Elmhurst College until her husband went on medical disability and they moved to Lake of the Ozarks. Now the grandchildren were visiting GramDude (their pet name for Virginia) to eat cookies and splash in her lake!
