August 14, 1952 - May 13, 2021

After a short battle with pancreatic cancer, LeRoy Glenn Gallaway, 68, of Topeka passed away at his daughter’s home on May 13, 2021. His final months were filled watching reruns of his favorite TV show, Bones; going on countless car rides; and receiving endless amounts of love and affection from his beloved children and grandchildren.

Affectionately known as Grandpa Fuzzy Face, LeRoy was born in Topeka on August 14th, 1952, to Franklin Sr. and Ruth (Horner) Gallaway. They preceded him in death. LeRoy married the love of his life, Glenda Clemons, on September 17, 1973 at the Gage Park Rose Garden in Topeka. Glenda preceded him in death on March 18, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Gallaway, of Topeka, and her sons, Jonah and Finley; a son, Kevin Glenn and his wife, Natasha, and their six children: Lauren, Christian, Sarah, Jonathan, Julianna, and Nathaniel; siblings Bonnie Hoffman, of McPherson, Kansas; Mary (Claude) Gillum, Ethel Wilson, and George Gallaway, all of Topeka; father-in-law, Dale (Betty) Clemons; mother-in-law, Marie Clemons; sisters-in-law, Connie Clemons, Wichita; Stacey (Richard) Ard, Topeka; step- sisters-in-law Rachel (Dan) Bartels and Alicia Rothe both of Topeka; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cora Brown, and a brother, Franklin “Jay” Gallaway Jr.

April 30, 1938 - May 08, 2021

Bessie May Singer “Bee” died May 8, 2021 at the age of 83.  She was born in Mt. Vernon Missouri, the daughter of Elmer and Glessie Fulks.  She spent her childhood near Durango Colorado.  She married Bobby J Harris in 1955 at Durango Colorado.  They moved to Topeka Kansas in 1959.  They divorced.

She married Lee Singer in 1965.  She is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Harris Price- Meriden KS and Kim Munoz- Topeka KS, 4 sisters, Luella Phillips- Vancouver WA, Janet Duran- Farmington NM, Michelina Raney- Aztec NM, Margaret Fulks- Durango CO, 8 grandchildren Jeremy Worden, LaDonna Worden, Tera Callaway, Justin Anguiano, Cierra Anguiano, Ali Munoz, Bobby Harris Jr., Nicole Harris and several great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Lee Singer, son Bobby Harris and daughter Brenda Harris. Cremation is at her request.  Memorial services will be graveside at The Topeka Cemetery on June 4^th, 2021 at 2:30 PM.  Flowers or donations may be made through -

August 08, 1975 - May 07, 2021. 

Roman graduated from Topeka High School. He was a huge fan of all things superhero related and loved getting dressed up for Halloween in his favorite superhero costumes. He was a devoted Christian and loved going to several different churches in a week so he wouldn't "miss anything". He loved classic rock from the 60's, 70's and 80's and for some reason, Steve Winwood above all. He struggled in recent years with mental health issues and alcohol use. He was grateful for the recovery community in which he participated.  And he was a person with a heart simply too big to hold all the challenges and struggles and love he had anymore. He will be missed in ways too big to measure. There will be no service. Please remember him in any way that feels right. Memorial contributions can be made to Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka where Roman was once a very active volunteer. 

September 19, 1970 - April 29, 2021

Jennifer Anessia Simons, 50, of Osage City, KS went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 29, 2021.

Born on September 19, 1970 in Wellington, KS. 

She graduated from Belle Plaine High School then attended Friends University and Newman University. 

She attended New Spring Church in Wichita, KS. 

Jennifer was a faithful follower of Jesus, a passionate Trump supporter, loved to fish and camp, and enjoyed entertaining and cooking for others. She was spunky, full of personality, and lived life on her own terms. She loved to debate and stay up-to-date on politics. She enjoyed watching the Food Network and law or crime television. Jennifer didn’t know a stranger, loved to converse with everyone, and was a kind and loving friend (who would give anyone the shirt off her back), and a caretaker to all. 

July 05, 1943 - April 28, 2021

Charles A. McLain, Topeka (formerly of Rossville) passed away at home with his family by his side on April 28^th, 2021 after a valiant battle with kidney cancer. 

Charlie was born July 5^th, 1943 to Thomas & Josie Taylor McLain in Senath, MO.  He later moved with his family to the St. Louis area, where he met his wife of 28 years, Jo.  They later divorced but remained close friends.  She preceded him in death.

Charlie retired from Goodyear in 1997 after 33 years of service.  Charlie, or “Chuck” was an avid bowler and leaves behind many great friends in the bowling community.  He loved spending time at the casino and loved his Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawks.  He proudly passed on this love to his family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom, a sister Kathy, nephew Tony and his son, Charles (Chip) McLain.  He is survived by three sisters, Freida (Jimmy) Noonan, Brenda (Jerry) Sessums, and Doris Smith.  He is also survived by three daughters, LauRay McLain, Topeka, Joi (John) Ridder and Amber (Jeff) Huske, all of Silver Lake, nine grandchildren, Darrell (DJ) and Trint Crosswhite, Jakob and Jennah Ridder, Kali and Garrett Huske, and Ben, Sarah, and Hannah McLain, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charlie was cremated at his request and arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.

October 29, 1948 - April 23, 2021

Johnny Lee Culberth of Topeka, Kansas died Friday, April 23, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home; following a short battle with cancer.

He was born October 29, 1948, in Clovis, New Mexico, son to F.D. Culberth and Lucille (Rinehart) Culberth. He married Teri (Pemberton) Culberth on May 19, 1967, in Clovis, New Mexico. Teri preceded him in death on February 22, 1997. John retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in October of 2008.

John spent many an hour on the ball field with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid history fan and spent endless hours studying seismology.

Survivors include a son, Frank Drew Culberth III (Marta); two daughters, Gayle Culberth and Renee Thompson (Paul); and his sister, Priscilla Lomas (Wayne). John was a proud “Pa” to six grandsons, David (Heidi), Silas (Bianca), Drew IV, Gabe, Eli, and Jacob; one granddaughter, Lexi; and three great-grandchildren, Ruth, Clyde, and Haven.

August 27, 1994 - April 16, 2021

Karen Hernandez-Rodriguez, age 26, died on Friday, April 16, 2021 at her home in Hoyt,Kansas.  She was born on August 27, 1994 in Garden City, Kansas.

Karen was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, always thinking of others. Anyone that knew her witnessed the love she had for her Kai bug, he was her whole world. On her spare time, she loved and enjoyed her time fishing with her family Nate, Zane and Kai.

Survivors incude: Son - Kai Allen Martin of Hoyt, Kansas; Husband - Nathan “Nate” Martin of Hoyt, Kansas; Step son - Zane Martin of Hoyt, Kansas; Mother and Father - Luzmaria and Pedro Hernandez of Holcomb , Kansas; Two sisters - Johana (Jacob) Gonzalez of Garden City, Kansas, Stephanie (Shahin Sakopanah) Hernandez of Shawnee, Kansas; 4 Nieces and 3 Nephews; Maternal grandmother, Guadalupe Perez de Rodriguez; Paternal grandfather Manuel Hernandez;  Numerous Cousins and extended family members.
